Others in the class, which also included Adrian Dantley, Detroit Pistons and Shock owner Bill Davidson and former Immaculata University coach Cathy Rush, gave speeches.

Los Angeles Lakers center Andrew Bynum proclaimed himself completely healthy Friday, saying he expects to be better than ever when training camp begins Sept. 30. "I'm doing well, man," the 7-footer said during a news conference at the Lakers' practice facility. "The knee's good. Everything's ready to go, 100 percent.

Kobe Bryant fell just short of pulling off the Michael Jordan magic act that included an NBA most valuable player trophy, NBA championship and Olympic gold medal in the same year. But Bryant couldn't be too disappointed that the Lakers lost in the NBA Finals to Boston after helping lead Team USA to victory in China. "Everyone wants to talk about NBA players being selfish, being arrogant, being individuals," Bryant said after the U.S. beat Spain and Lakers teammate Pau Gasol in the final game. "But what you saw... was a team bonding together facing adversity and coming out of here with a big win." Bryant's welcome home was fun, too, with him taking part Sept. 3 in Chicago as Oprah Winfrey honored 150 U.S.

Joe Crawford, the Los Angeles Lakers' only selection in the NBA draft last June, signed a contract with the Western Conference champions on Wednesday. Crawford, the 58th overall pick, averaged 11.3 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.5 assists in four years at Kentucky, where he played in 127 games, 76 of them starts.
